I'm wondering if anyone has experienced QA locking up when trying to save a query to a Novell directory. Every once and a while when I save a query to one of our Novell directories QA saves the query and then stops responding. Forcing me to shutdown QA and restart. Occassionally causing me to lose work in QA windows that have not been saved.
This is only happening on my Windows 2000 machine using SQL Server 2000. My NT 4 machine using SQL Server 7 does not seem to have this problem. I suppose potentially it has nothing to do with SQL Server, but just thought I would see if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Very annoying!

Sounds like a network problem to me. MS stopped getting caught introducing specific network incompatibilities several years ago. Maybe they're getting better at it.

I'm thinking about changing my mode of operation to use only NT network shares from QA to see if the problem disappears.

My thought, are you using the MS novell connector or have you installed the Novell client with IPX/SPX. If you did you should be able to remove IPX/SPX and the problem go away. I found that with IPX/SPX installed everytime I tried to access any drive on my network I would see queires from the Novell client to verify the drive even mapped drives. I removed IPX/SPX as I did not need and the problem has ceased. May work for you.
