IF I shrink db and move pages to the beginning of the file before shrinking I still don't go to zero percent free space. it seems only shrink file gets all the free space out???

How do you move pages to the beginning of the file?
Also keep in mind you cannot shrink below the original size.

If you are using Enterprise Manager it is the fist checkbox which is unchecked by default. (right click db>all tasks> shrink db

Interesting. Hadn't noticed that since I tend to script things and never worried.
How big is the db and what was the original size?

It's about 65 BG. IT now says it has 25% free space. Before the shrinking it said 30% free space.
I posted a question last week about where it is getting these percentages from but no one knew.
