missing tables in SQL7 EM

  • I have a remote SQL7 server registered on my client pc. I installed SQL2000 on another remote server. All was well until I registered my SQL7 in the SQL2000 enterprise manager. Most is alright but one of my dbs is missing its table objects! I know their there & working properly, I just can't see them in the SQL7 EM on my client pc. Anyone run into this one before?

Where is it that you are expecting to see them? Are you talking about on the taskpad, second tab? If so, let me know. I ran into this and found a bug in the SQL 2000 EM routine that gets this data. I found a way to fix it.

  • not the taskpad. When I open the database & click on tables the right window is emty. By the way to be clear, I can see the SQL7 tables on the SQL2000 EM server where I registered the SQL7 remote server. I can't see them on my pc which is still a SQL7 client.

  • Thanks for the clarification. Can't help you, though. Since you can't connect to a 2000 server from 7 EM, my client was upgraded with my first server.

  • What tables in particular are not shoiwng up. The fact you registered on EM for 2000 on another machine should not affect you 7 client on the machine without the 200 client. Also did you try running "SELECT * FROM SYSOBJECTS" just as verification that the database was not changed?

  • YES! what your saying makes total sense to me. I didn't make any changes on the SQL7 server or the pc with SQL7 client. YES! I checked sysobjects and all the tables are showing up. And now that I have run that query, my tables are now showing up in EM!

I don't get it? Everything else said the tables were there. The tables & indexes tab showed all the tables & indexes. I could query the tables no problem. I just couldn't see them in the EM window. And now, after running the sysobjects query, I can see them?

    Strange!

    Thanks for the help

  • Sometimes things with MS apps are truely stranger than fiction.
