SP2 for SQL 2000 is in beta. Once it goes public you can download it and get a list of "fix" things. From past experience with SQL SP's I would expect 30+ "fix" items. And that is just the public side, not the partner side of things. Now many of the "fix" items are just patches to bugs not out right security issues.
Microsoft has various ways for you to pay to get extended support. Given an Enterprise version of SQL it would be something for you to look into.

There are always fixes in progress and hotfixes appear occassionaly, but I have found that by calling support, I sometimes get "unreleased" hot fixes. Usually these are later included in a service pack. You have to decide if you can workaround your problem or need to spend the US$250 to call MS.
