I have 7.0 running on a win2k server. I can query that fine although sometimes it bogs down with too many requests. So I thought of this solution and wanted to ask.
Does anybody run MSDE 1.0 on thir local machine while still being able to get to
SQLServer on their server pc?

Don't have the setup, but there should be no issue as long as your PC has the horsepower. I run (and have run) both 7 and 2000 personal editions and experienced no problems connecting to remote 7 and/or 2000 servers.

I'm much like Steve. I've got SQL 7 and SQL 2000 editions both running on my workstation (256 MB of RAM, 933 MHz). No real issues and I used it for other things as well.
