Are there any major disadvantages in running SQL 2000 on Win NT 4.0 vs Win 2000? Will you still see a performance gain (for multiple CPUs) on Windows NT 4.0?
Thanks

Never ran SQL2K on NT, but I can say that administration is reduced somewhat by running on Win2K. We're definitely happy that we migrated.

there was quite a talk about sql 7 being twice as slow on w2k and sql2k taking a performance hit on nt 4.0 We never did any testing but we do keep all our 7.0 servers on nt4.0 untill we can do a complete upgrade on the OS and the DB's.
Just my .02$ worth.

I'm running SQL 2K and 7.0 in both environments and have not noticed any performance enhancement/degregation between the two. We had a *slight* performance enhancement when going to Win2K in fact. The biggeste enhancement we saw was by going to Enterprise Edition of SQL 2k and using some of its advertised features (indexed views, DPVs).
