Question related to ReportService Security

  • Hi All, I have an issue. During Audit we took out Server Administrator permission(Server level not SQL Level) of some of the users and then they have issue connecting to reports.

Before they were able to connect to that server(forexample serverA) from anywhere in network...for example, if they type \\ServerA\reportserver from anywhere then they were able to access reports but after security group took out their permission from ServerA, they were not able to connect to those reports..

What kind of minimal permission is required for those users to connect to reports with

\\serverA\reportserver URL? Let me know for any suggession as I am very new with reporting service.

  • Log on to the server where the reporting services is installed and go to the reports home page. Assuming you have admin access you should be able to go to the security on the home page and see/amend who can get to it. You may need to get a new AD group set up that contains the users and then add that to the reports home page. You can also set the permissions on the folders/reports as required. The minimal permission is browser which will allow the users to see the reports.
