Executing from a .ISO format - How To Do This ?

  • I downloaded some updates to my SQL Server from the Microsoft site and they came in a .ISO format.

After doing some research, it seems that the software to open this format is MagicISO.

When i go into the directory and run the setup.exe file, i keep getting various error mesages saying it cant find various files, but they are within the same directory.

How do i get around this issue ?

    Thanks

  • ISO is a standard format that defines a CD or DVD disk as a single file. You can use something like the daemon tools or Nero's Image drive to "mount" them, what happens then is the ISO image is shown as a mounted drive, like any other CD/DVD drive and you have access to its files just the same as you would a CD/DVD in the drive.

    Look for tools like that..

  • I keep getting a setup error for some reason ?

I have attached a copy of the error.

    Thanks

  • I think you are missing files or the download was corrupt. There isn't much we're going to be able to do if you don't have a good download.

The tool you are using can help, BUT you need to extract all the files first.

Instead of continuing down that path, follow some of the links above. You are using a tool that lets you see the files inside the ISO and extract them, however, NO OTHER PROCESS ON THE COMPUTER CAN ACCESS THE FILES IN THE ISO.

You need to mount the ISO and that tool is not the right one to do that.
