Sql server does not exist or access denied

  • Hi every one!!

    I have a database server Ms Sql 2000 in windows server 2003. This server is connected to domain. Since fiew days Sql enterprise Manager began to give an error " Sql Server does not exist or access denied" What can be the causes and What can I do to resolve this problem.

  • There could be few reasons for this. Do you know if the server is still online? Could it be that the server’s service was stopped? Another reason can be that someone dropped your login, so you can not login to the server using your credentials. You can also check with your system administration if they blocked your access to the server with firewall. You should also check the server’s registration properties. Maybe someone modified the authentication information in the EM. Those are just the main reasons, but of course there could be other reasons.
