Changing sa password effect maintenance plan

  • Guys,

I've created several maintenance plans to run backups (including cross network) and at some point decided to change sa password.

As a result maintenance plans stopped working, jobs related to them started failing (jobs unrelated to them continued to function correctly). Attempts to delete those maintenance plans and related jobs have failed. The only solution that worked was to change sa password to old value (it resolved all problems)...

As far as I remember Microsoft had a problem in that area, but it was related to a scheduler... Is version 9.0.3054 right one to run these days ?

    Thank you, Mike.

  • I believe it's the job that fails if sa changes in places.

You could have set credentials in the maintenance plan to connect as SA, which would be a bad idea. I'd check that.

  • Could you be more specific?
