Hello all,
I have a server with two instances of SQL Server 2005 installed (database engine, and SSIS).
I ran upgrade to SP1.
I noticed that the version numbers of the default instance and the named instance differ (default: 9.0.2047, named:9.0.1399)
My question: how do I upgrade the named instance to SP1? I never came across an option to choose the instance when I did the upgrade process of the default instance.

Hans,
When you apply SP1 you get a screen called authenication. On this screen is setting that is set by deafult, that allows you to apply the service pack to all instances. If you have more than one instance installed a second option (Advanced) is enabled that allows you to apply the SP to specific instance. If this second (advanced) option is selected then you will only apply the SP to one instance. My guess is this happened to you.

Hello Ellis,
thanks for the answer.
I tried again to run the service pack, and this time I could choose the named instance.
I think the service pack was installed BEFORE the named instance was installed, so that it could not have been visible to the service pack upgrade.
regards,
Hans
