The server admins are reluctant to give me ALTER TRACE permission so I can use Profiler. (They're concerned about giving me access to other databases on the server.) Is there a way they can grant ALTER TRACE permission to me for just my database? From Books Online it appears that's only an option for the whole server... anybody know a workaround?

I thought 2005 allowed non sysadmins to use profiler, if that's the case then you would only be able to trace against databases you have access to, sure it's in BOL

I am unable to use Profiler on my database. When I try to, it tells me I need ALTER TRACE permissions.
BOL doesn't spell it out, but it implies that you can't get any more granular for this permission than the server. I'm hoping that someone knows otherwise....
