  Hello all,

  Is it possible to connect from a remote client (on the same LAN) to MSDE (sp3a) running on a Windows Server 2003 computer that has not been set up as a domain controller?

  I can't seem to connect at all. Any ideas welcome

  I am assuming that it is not WMSDE (another version of MSDE which does not allow network connection)

  If its MSDE, you CAN connect from remote clients. Please check if you have enabled network protocols for it.

  Start>Run>svrnetcn

  You need to enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes (based on your requirement)

  Thanks for the advice, and sorry for the very late reply. I ran the svrnetcn utility and added the two protocols and it worked.
