Upgrade from Sql 2000 Ent to Sql 2005 Std

    Hi all

           I just need to know is it possible to Upgrade from Sql 2000 Ent edition to Sql 2005 Std edition, if yes is it simple upgrade\migration or need some special trick and what will happen to Lic.

    Appreciate any help

    Hi Alpesh,

    The supported upgrade paths are documented here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393(SQL.90).aspx.

    In short, SQL2K Ent can only be upgraded to SQL2K5 Ent. However, this is a in place setup-based upgrade. You should be able to manually move your databases. You can either do an export/import or you can detach/attach the databases.
