backing up to tape device

  I have a sql cluster (active/passive) that I need to run backups to a tape device for.  The actual tape device is directly connected to another server (scsi).

  How can I get sql server (or just win2003 for that matter) to see the tape device on the other machine so I can schedule maintenance plans?

  I think but not sure, that you have to move sql cluster group to another node.
