OK, this is crazy.
I can not create a datasource for SQL 2000 DB without getting the error message "...database is read only, can not update..". Later this stops me from creating dimensions.
I am pretty sure this is the problem of underlying Access database for Analysis Server meta data. But what is the solution? Looks like the Access database version is not "current".
Is converting the Access DB to SQL help? If yes, how will I do daaat? Ph-h-lease yelp!
I am running SQL 2000/Win 2000.

That may be a security issue, check if you are in the group OLAP Administrators and you have full access to the directory where the repository is (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin\msmdrep.mdb).
It may help too if you convert the repository to SQL. To do this, go to Analysis Manager, right-click on the server, then choose Migrate Repository.
