Hi,
I'm now role playing my date time dimensions for numerous date stamps in my fact table.
I'm wanting to omit some of the attributes within a role playing dimension because they are not necessary.
I haven't however found anything to tell me that this is possible?
Does anyone have any idea how to do this... or are all the role playing dimensions saddled with all the attributes and hierarchies of the main dimension?

Hi,
You can edit this in the dimension pane within the cube editor (the window that shows you what dims you have in you cube & allows you to add more).
You can expand the dimenison --> attributes and click the properties. There will be an option to hide that attribute in the cube

I thought that But I dont know how? All I can do under dimension useage is click on the measure group key (The button next to the key and go to the Define relationship. Clicking on advanced shows all the attributes but you cant do anything with them other than update the relationship?
How do you expand the dimension to get to the attribute properties?
I have clicked on the cube and gone to the dimension useage tab?
Very confusing:blink:

Ahhh - this is in the cube structure screen (the main cube bit)
There should be a pane with measures & one with dimensions. Expand the dimension in the dimension pane to the attribuite you want and right click on it. A property panel will give you the option of hiding the attribute

Right soooo....
On the cube structure tab.
There is a measures and dimensions box (Measures is above the dimensions box)
Clicked on the + next to the role play dimension to open it up
right click on the attribute or hierarchy that needs hiding and go to properties
Under properties at the right hand side of the screen click false.
YEY PROBLEM SORTED!
THANK YOU 😀
