Change Domain of Sql Server 2005 Cluster Database

  • Hi All,

Due to some requirement we want to change the domain of Sql Server 2005 Cluster System.

What are the best practise for these tasks without effecting the database which is live.

If anyone come accross the same criteria, kindly share.

    Thanks in Advance

You should create a test cluster and move it to new domain before moving live.

How to move existing cluster to new domain:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269196

    How to change ip addresses:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244980

Also make sure you recreate domain groups.

    Good Luck

  • years ago i went through hell trying to change IP's in a cluster. i wouldn't try anything like on a MS cluster.

your best bet is to test detaching the databases, breaking the cluster, changing domain of the servers and recreating and reinstalling SQL server on the new cluster
