Can someone offer advice on how to bring up msdb ,marked suspect?
the server was rebooted and this might have caused the problem.
sql server detected a logical consistency-based error.

Restore from backup. then check your IO subsystem for problems.

at this place we use BMC sqlbacktrack console.
I restored a few hours ago, but it does not bring it online. I think on SSMS it says recovering...
I cannot log into the box now and am taking vacation, so the regular DBA will take over, but thanks for your help.
I've done a goodamount of SQL Server DBA supportsince 2003, but not much in the last 2 years.
A little rusty.

Short of restoring from a known good backup you could try:

even though these steps are for SQL Server 2008 and are reallly meant for application databases as opposed to system databases.
