Maintenance plan Issue sql 2005

  • Hi there,

I set up a maintenance plan to backup my sql 2005 server

databases[backup all databases], I run it and nothing happens under C:

    \P Files\Microsoft SQL server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup\ there are no

    files.

I had errors saving the job also but eventually it did.

    I am running SQL 2005 RTM 9.00.1399.06

  • After running maintenance plan job what is the error message encountered.

  • When i run it i am getting a success msg .... and the maintenance plan configuration is proper ....but it is not generating backup????????

  • Can you test the maintenance plan on your instance by creating one plan for a single test db and then give backup path as C:\ only.

Pls try this and revert to forum.

  • i had tried for a single db and the path i gave as E:\ drive but still it behaves the same.....:-)

  • You are running the RTM version - which had several issues with maintenance plans that have been fixed in later service packs.

Additionally, in this version you are required to have Integration Services installed. That is no longer required on the later service packs.

And finally, there was a shift in how maintenance plans are structured after SP2 which will require rebuilding any maintenance plans built prior to that version. In other words, if you build your maintenance plans on this version - then upgrade to SP4 you have to delete and recreate the maintenance plans.

My suggestions is to upgrade to the latest service pack before continuing.
