A tool I have found to be invaluable of late is BeyondCompare.
I would recommend it.

Nowadays, the tool I use most is probably SQL Refactor, followed closely by SQL Data Generator and SQL Doc.
Of non-Redgate tools, I love Editpad Pro, AceText, RegexBuddy and HelpScribble, all of which are written by Jan Goyvaerts. They are compact, ingenious, reliable and rapid. I use Editpad Pro for quite a bit of SQL Dev, particularly if needing to do SQLCLR work. As I write this, I'm doing some F#/SMO work using it, and flipping between F# interactive and SQL.
Screendumps? TNT Screen Capture.
Still using Microsoft Orifice too, now that I've circumvented the ribbon.
Best wishes,
Phil Factor

I'll probably get shot down in flames for this one, but I still think that MS Access linked into SQL is great for quick and (very) dirty querying. (Just don't let any users get their hands on it!).

PowerShell. There are two applications I have open all day--SSMS and PowerShell.

And since I'm here...
Access? You just got voted off the island and we're considering reinstating tar, feathers and getting a ride on the rail.

There are a few RedGate tools I find very useful, with the highest use going to SQL Prompt and SQL Refactor. Even those are "nice", not "essential", though.
I can get by on SSMS, Notepad, Excel, and a web browser. If I don't need to access SQL, I can really get by on just a browser, if I have to.

Ditto on that. It's good for doing quick comparisons of data output from SSMS.
