DTS TO SSIS MIGRATION

  • Hi Everyone,

I am new to SQL SSIS as well DTS. I am given a task for converting all the DTS packages to SSIS packages. I went back and did a compatibility test with upgrade advisor. All the ActiveX scripts are failing to move. Can anyone please suggest a proper way of migration of DTS to SSIS? And also please advice me on moving this ActiveX script to SSIS.

All ActiveX was coded in VB script.

    Thanks in advance!!

  • Can you be more specific? We will need to know more than "it doesnt work" to know where to begin to help you.:-P

  • Sure.!! I haven't started to move the packages yet to SSIS as I do not know the procedure yet. I just used upgrade advisor to check what changes will it do to the DTS package while moving to SSIS, and found it will be of no big use. For this I exported DTS package to my local system and then used upgrade advisor.

    My questions in specific are.

    1. What is the procedure followed for DTS to SSIS migration?

    2. How are the ActiveX scripts moved to Script task in SSIS?

    1. Use the upgrade wizard 🙂

    2. Either use an ActiveX task in SSIS (deprecated, can be removed in a future release) or rewrite the script in a script task (using VB.NET).

Need an answer? No, you need a question
