sql 2008 specs

    This was a Note in the Hardware and Software requirements for SQL2008 page in msdn.

    "SQL Server 2008 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core installations."

    What does that mean?

    Also, seems SQL Server 2008 has same pricing as SQL Server 2005?

    Server core is basically a gui-less version designed to be an extrememly minimal install. It only supports certain roles like dns, dhcp, etc. It also does not support managed code.

    You are correct there was no price increase from sql 2005 to 2008.
