So crap it should be given away for free. You have to have the errata on screen to even attempt this book. Missing steps, constantly having to fumble through exercises because, having followed the steps for a 5th or 6th time, you realize its not you, its the book. Terrible, terrible book.

Here is a link to the errata in case you are unfortunate enough to have bought it...

That's my experience as well. Whenever something doesn't work or seem quite right, go to the link above before wasting time on troubleshooting.

That seems like very bad (technical) editing. Is the book content-wise OK?
Need an answer? No, you need a question

Content wise I found the book OK, certainly enough to pass the exam. However there is a few mistakes but it gave me the opportunity to figure it out for myself which made me better understand the exercises.

RTaylor,
Did you have any previous experience with the technologies, or was it all new to you? What else did you use to supplement your study?

Prior to reading the book \ sitting the exam I had developed a few relatively basic SSIS packages, but as a production DBA supporting our Data warehouse I regularly investigate issues with SSIS packages developed by others.
I would say that you need a decent understanding of data warehouse design in order to really get the most out of the book. But everything you need to know for the exam is in there.
It was the only resource I used to study for the exam.

Currently using this book as well and ran into the same issues. having learned my lesson from a previous training kit (70-461), I ended up printing out the Errata page BEFORE diving in 😀
