How many ways can you write code? You can generate reports through absolutely huge numbers of tools and resources. Most systems have Excel installed. You can configure that to run queries and bring data back into grids or charts. You can set up Reporting Services on your server and serve out reports through that. You can use Visual Studio to crate .rpt files, which are Reporting Services files, and distribute those to client machines. There are just tons and tons of methods and third party tools.
Most people stick to either Reporting Services or Excel or some combination, but you have a very large number of choices.
