Migrating Databases

  • Hell guys,

I'm developing and execution plan to migrate over 300 databases from one drive to another on the same SQL server.

When I was verifying the databases to be moved, I noticed we have 9 folders labeled as KCPRODDBKCMetaData061489, all of which contain the following files inside each:

    SQL.HDR

    ftcatstate

    CatalogStatus.idx

    CatalogStatus.dat

There is also a folder inside the KCPRODDBKCMetaData061489 called MssearchCatalogDir which contains the following files and extensions:

    00010012.ci

    00010012.dir

    00010012.wid

    00010012.wsb

    CiAB0001.000

    CiAB0001.001

    INDEX.000

    INDEX.001

    SETTINGS.DIA

There also is a database named KCPRODDBKCMetaData061489 with a standard .mdf and .ldf files.

Does anyone know what these files are and if there's anything special I need to do to move them to the new drive?

    Thanks in advance,

    -rp

  • I believe these are full text indexes in 2005.

Does this help? Look for the moving full text : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345483.aspx
