is there anyway to disable the keyboard shortcut ctrl+e in SSMS ?
it is so close to ctrl+r , ctrl+d etc.. accidentally pressing it when working on a query could be disastrous!
p.s: Be careful if you type fast, or have long nails 🙂

You can reset the keyboard shortcuts in the Tools, Customize window.

are u referring to tools-customize-keyboard aka tools-options-keyboard ?
i only found 'Reset to default' ctrl+1, ctrl+2 etc.. which are user-customized shortcuts (not inbuilt shortcuts like ctrl+e)

Why not just use f5 or alt-x?

I don't believe that you can change the existing shortcuts. I will check around, but I think you are stuck with them. If you look at the list of shortcuts (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174205%28SQL.90%29.aspx, there are lots of combinations, almost all common keys are used.

i made a work-around - mapped ctrl+e as a hotkey in another software.

Any more details on how you did that? It's an intersting idea. All my queries of MSFT/MVPs say that you can't change this in SSMS.

i have a dictionary software - WordWeb (runs as a background process), which incidentally allows u to manually set a keyboard shortcut to activate it.. set ctrl+e
