instance name

    can we install with a default instance name when we are upgrading a sql 2005 to sql 2008?

    or what is the insatnce name when we are upgrading a sql 2005 to sql 2008?

    When an existing instance is upgraded, the instance name will remain the same. If it was a named instance before upgrade, it will continue to use the same after upgrade as well.
