I am planning to create database maintenance task but I am unable to proceed with Maintenance plan wizard which gives an error message saying "Cannot show the editor for this task", Absolute path information is required. We have SQL 2005 Standard Edition with SP2 installed. Could anyone help me fixing this issue.

Hey There,
Found this after a quick Google search.
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/fc5741a2-c3bd-4143-a4a6-76abd53fe95f
Does this answer your issue or is yours something different?

No the above issue seems to be different. Actually the error is happening when I choose the "Backup Database" in
Maintenance plan wizard it should go to "Select Maintenance task order" but it throws this error "Cannot show editor for this task Additional Information "Absoulte path information is required (mscorlib)". Need solution for this error.

Hi there,
The link below is to another article on this site to a similar issue, if you can read through it and tell me how it relates to your issue.
You said you are using the wizard but have you tried to just build a plan (select individual required maintenance tasks and then build a flow logic)? If you havent thats something to try and we can help you with that if you want.
Also you did not say if this issue is on a workstation or a server etc (ie is the issue localised to one machine). As the article suggests, it is important that the patch level of the client tools being used matches those of the server.
Can you please also give some more information and perhaps some screen shots 🙂

Good luck.

Hi Adam,
I tried to split it into individual tasks, still I am getting the same error.
Its Windows Server 2003 Server with SP2.
How to verify the patch level of the client tools vs server?
Thanks

Maybe not related, but SP3 has been out a while.
