Hi All,
I want to know ,how does transaction Logs transfer in log shipping and mirroring internally.
what is reason behind this.please guide me...
Actly some one ask me this in my tech interview......

If that's an interview question, then the correct answer is "I don't know, but I can research it", and then tell the interviewer how you'd go about researching it. What sites or other resources you'd use, and so on.

Basically, logshipping copies physical log files ( the back up files of transactional logs) over to secondary server and then the db is restored either in stand by more or norecovery mode; Where as mirroring works on logical log files (.ldf).
I belive, it needs further probing before these questions are answered. What do they (interviewers) mean by reasons behind this?

Then I suggest you start by reading about Log Shippiing and Database Mirroring in Books Online. That should give you good start from which you could ask questions for further enlightenment.

Asking about SQL server internals in an interview seems over the top, I think the answer that one works at the transaction log backup level and the other at individual transaction level as the main difference should be good enough unless you were interviewing for senior SQL server engineer job at Microsoft
