Hello
I am trying to decide the best way to store SQL Server backups on our SAN.
My idea was to have a big lun for all the backups of our 4 servers (170 databases) and then present that lun to all the servers to they can backup or restore easily without the need for any file copying. Also we could do SAN snapshotting to backup the backups.
To me it seems like a pretty good idea
But.. am I likely to run into problems (io slowdown) when (for example) all servers are trying to write backups to SAN backup lun at the same time?
Please post your opinions and thoughts on this

We have EMC clarion and we wanted to have lun backups but it requires a snapshot license so we declined.
You can have Automatic Snapshots Enabled for Lun and that will mirror whatever happens on your Lun.
Just make sure to isolate it from you data and log files.
