Hi
Have searched the forums and web with no result so thought I would ask here.
I have a client with SQL Express who is running an application on it currently. I want to install another application that will create a SQL database on the instance and run it off the same server.
My question is how much is 1GB of memory when we talk about SQL Express? Is there anything other than running the two in tandem to see if there is a problem that might help me define whethe rthe two can co-exist without memory problems.
The first system is an accounting application with 10 users, however it doesn't look as though it is accessed too much ie no-one enters transactions every minute. The second application is a contact management program including the recording of calls and calendar events. Again I do not see a huge amount of activity, but is activity what is going to use the memory?

8 GB but I believe that SQL Express only uses 1 GB for Buffer Pool and am wondering how that might affect transaction processing. I am also concerned about the single CPU limitation but not so much as I have seen similar instances where a single CPU will work fine for most things we need.

Yes.
However, if you allocate 2GB memory for CPU then it will be advisable..
