How to change what getdate() returns

  select getdate() returns the result in the format

  5/12/2010 9:43:20 Am

  but i want it to return the format

  2010-05-12 10:47:36.097

  Any ideas how to go about doing this?

  Lookup "Convert" in Books online, you have plenty formats to use for a date.

  datetimes are NOT stored in any particular format.
