Hi experts,
one of our user having sql2000 exp edition(default instance) and sql2005 dev edition(named instance)
when i restart the system named instance is not running
then i checked in services.msc
i stopped default instace services then i started named instance services
now it is running
but i want to know why named instance services are stopping if i restart the machine
please give your valuble solution to fix this issue permanently

Have you set it to START "Automatic"ally. ?

You will find that option on the Properties of the Services.
Under 'General' properties you can set 'Start UpType' to 'Automatic'....
for recovery u can follow below steps:
Rightclick on the properties and you will find different tabs...
Go to 'Recovery' tab and the in the 'First Failure' section you need to there you need to set up

Do both instances use different port numbers?

Go to sql surface area configurations then switch to service select automaticaly from start mode. click apply and ok.

Pardon me if you have already answered this, but which instance (or instances) of SQL Server are you unable to connect to remotely?
