SQL 2005 Installing DTExec on Application Server

    Hi

    We have application servers for Dev, QA and Production. I would like to install only the client side tool dtexec on these application servers.

    Which client component holds the dtexec? Do I need a license?

    No you cannot use anything SSIS from client tools install but you can use the developer edition for Dev and QA, so you can run your main license for Production. Post again if you still need help because Microsoft changed the licensing in SQL Server 2005 because automated DTS Redist was pumping data across the World and Microsoft was not getting paid.

    The only place you can run SSIS tools without a license is in BIDS.
