Hi all. I'm getting an error when I use the copy database wizard. After some google searching I have used the surface area configuration tool to enable named pipes/tcp on both servers and tried again, after restarting the service on both computers, but it still continues to happen. The error message is very generic and just says to check the event log and all the event log says is that there was an error. Both servers are sql server 2005.
Has anybody run across this ?

There are two options for the copy database wizard - which one are you selecting?
FWIW - I have found it to be a lot easier to just do a backup/restore to create a copy on another system. If I am moving the database to a new server, I will perform a backup and shut the old system down - then restore the backup on the new server.
The other option is to manually perform a detach, copy, attach - which is what one of the options in the copy database wizard actually does.
