Hi,
I installed SQL Server Express on my PC. I then later wanted to install SQL Server 2005 Development.
I tried unistalling Express before proceeding to install install Developer edition but it would not uninstall.
Successfully installed SQL Server 2005 under a different instance name and reporting, analysis, integration services. I also installed Business Intelligence studio (VS 2005 professional already installed).
How do I uninstall the express instance without ruining my 2005 Dev instance?
I followed the remove instance wizard (chose the express instance to change)but the wording in the dialogue windows doesn't specifically indicate you are removing an instance, sounds like you are uninstalling everything to do with SQL Server.
Do I proceed?
Please advise
Thanks
Chris

I think it should uninstall only the instance you had selected. If you want to be on safe side take snap shot of the system, Server Team\Windows Team should be able to help you this.

Yes, you continue and it will only uninstall the instance and components that you have selected.

Hi,
I uninstalled if successfully. I had chosen change from the control panel list item: the wizard does provide option to delete but it is vague.
However, if you press remove on the control panel list item it is much more specific and this successfully dropped the express instance.
Cheers
