Hello,
We had build a new active/passive cluster with Node 1 and Node 2 on windows 2003 EE x64. We are going to install sql server 2005 EE x64.
Befor doing that, I have couple questions to make sure cluster configuration has no issues
1. What are the things I need to check to confirm the cluster configuration is fine?
2.We have drives C,D,E,F,Q (Quorum) and Y (MSDTC) on node1 and node 2 has just C now.
3.I created a group and added the D,E,F in that group.
4.I moved the group to node 2 from cluster administrator and D,E,F are moved to Node2
5.I moved the group back to Node1.
BUT here, after moving back to node1, Iam still seeing the drives D,E,F on node2 and also on node 1.
Is this normal behaviour or something wrong with the cluster configuration?
Iam thinking that when we moved back to node 1, the drives D,E,F should not be visible from node2. Correct me if Iam wrong
Many thanks

The drives will be visible but not accessible from node 2.

thanks,
1.You meant say that, if we move all the drives from node 1 to node 2, all the drives should be visible and accessible from node 2
2.if we move all the drives from node 1 to node 2, and moved back to node 1, then all the drives should be visible and NOT accessible from node 2 right?

That is correct, once you have fully tested the cluster failover - all drives will be visible from both nodes and only accessible from the node where the resource exists.
This is just a visual effect because all drives/lun's are visible to the O/S from all nodes. They can only be accessed from the node that owns the cluster resource, but the O/S still sees the drives/lun's.
