Well, this is probably as good a place as any to solicit opinions about this.
Here's my scenario: I'm currently an MCAD .NET (which I got two years ago). This past year, I changed jobs, and am now in more of a DB analyst role, although my structured programming/OOP skills are supposedly going to be put to good use.
However, in addition to my programming background, I also have a fairly strong SQL background as well.
So . . .
(1) I'm interested in upgrading my MCAD .NET.
(2) I'm working in a SQL Server 2008 environment, and wouldn't mind adding SQL certs as well.
When I got my MCAD, I took 70-229 in an attempt to upgrade to MCSD. Alas, I didn't pass the exam :blush: and never got around to retaking it. Of course, it's since been retired by Microsoft.
I'm looking into taking 70-552 to upgrade my MCAD to MCPD. What's not as clear is the SQL direction to take. At one point, I was interested in the MCDBA, but that's no longer an option.
So, any thoughts as to which way to go with this?

I have MCITP BI and DBA SQL Server 2005 which is upgrade from MCDBA and as C# Asp.net developer I also have Web C# MCPD. I had helped at the MSDN certification forum so you should know if you want to upgrade your MCAD remember to take the two exam upgrade because the one exam upgrade comes with more than 90 percent fail rate. Post again if you need more help.

Yikes!!! That's good to know. I was considering the one exam upgrade, but now that you tell me that, I'll definitely look at the two exam upgrade. Thanks!
Basically, my initial question stemmed from that the MCAD requirements also fulfilled elective requirements for the MCDBA (or was it the other way around?). Now that SQL certs have upgraded to SQL 2005/2008, I was wondering if that was still the case -- in other words, can exams for the .NET MCTS/MCPD be applied (as electives) toward the SQL MCTS or MCITP, or vice versa?

That is very good question and the answer is no because in SQL Server 2005 I passed exam 70-431 and 70-447 to upgrade MCDBA to MCITP DBA. Then I passed 70-445 and 70-446 for BI MCITP. Those are the SQL Server exams so there is no .NET exam and for Web C# MCPD I took exam 70-536, 70-528 and 70-547, unrelated I also have MCTS TFS.
The new certification comes without overlap so for SQL Server 2008 you need two exams for the DBA MCITP and two exams for MCAD upgrade.
