Hey guys,
Anyone have any experience clustering '00/'05/'08 all in the same environment? I can them all running together locally, but only going oldest to newest in regards to the order of the installs. I'm assuming I can do the same with a cluster, but I'm a bit worried about when/if I have to add or modify a 2000 instance. Basically looking to run (for now, more '08's to come later possibly) one instance of each, in a 6 node environment.
Any and all information on the matter would be most helpful.

Hi,
As far as I know we can install SQL 2000/2005 & 2008 on a same cluster. The thing is one will be default instance and rest will be Named one.

Well, they would all be named instances ... to my understanding installing multiple instances in a clustered environment requires the usage of instances regardless, but this really isn't of concern right now. I am simply looking for confirmation or denial that all 3 will happily play on a server. Does SQL2000 even work on windows 2008? That and as stated, once I install them in order 2000 -> 2005 -> 2008, will I experience problems when/if I need to go back and install a new 2000 instance if that situation were to arise?

As far as I'm aware, there is no issue with installing different version if SQL on a cluster, and you don't even have to do them in any particular sequence.
I have (test) servers with all 3 versions and different editions, installed in any manner of sequences without any problems.
