SQL 2008 - Adding a named instance to a cluster

  • Hi folks!

I want to add another sql instance where the sql2\sql named instance is placed. This instance should have a different default collation.

Is it possible to have 2 sql servers running in the same service/app pool and share the same disks?

If so, do anyone know how to this should be installed?

    The server setup is:

    Operating system: windows server 2008

    SQL Server 2008 Standard edition

    2 nodes

    Server02 and Server03

    2 Service/app pools

sql1 (default instance) with 3 disks

    sql2 (second instance) (sql2\sql) with 3 disks

I really hope someone knows how to work this 🙂

    Regards!

  • Did you ever get this working? I know you can't use the same disks, but i am trying to figure out how to add a second instance to my 2008 cluster and can't find any way to do it.

    Thansk,

    Scott
