"Start debugging" button disabled in Microsoft Visual Studio

  • Hi

This must be a seriously stupid question for you guys out there but this problem starts to drive me mad!

I am quite new to SQL Server 2005 and started playing with packages in Visual Studio in order to perform some data migration.

Last week I managed to create a simple package and run it in debug mode.

Now I've created a more complex one but the "start debugging" button is greyed out and I can't start my package.

I have made sure that there is no error or warning so everything should be ok.

    Any idea?

    Cheers

  • Not a stupid question at all 🙂

Try createinga solution and adding the package. Then work with the solution, rather than editing the package directly ...

  • Hi

Created a new solution, attached the package to it and ... the run button was enabled?!?!

Well ... my package failed at the first data flow but I can run it now!!

    Wonderful.

    Thanks a lot!!

Can go home happy now ... 🙂
