Hi All,
I have a clustered active/passive server that had an instance ins1, and we installed another named instance ins2. after that i am seeing strange behavior in surface area configuration
Before Installing 2nd instance, I was able to connect surface area configuration area configuration from the menu options, and then click on the computername, select the remote computer option and enter my VirtualServerName\ins1, and it used to open up properly.
After i installed the named instance , strangely when ever i try to enter any of the virtualservername\instancename for the "remote computer option" it is giving me a message
"Computer does not exist in the network, or the computer cannot be configured remotely. Verify that the remote computer has the required Windows Management Instrumentation Components and then try again"
Can somebody help me please.

Just use the virtualserver name without the instancename. SAC only connects to the server not the instance. Once you have connected you can choose the SQL instance.
