  First Define your Migration Strategy:

  is it SQL 2000 to 2005 or SQL 2000 to 2008 or 2005 to 2008

  Then go for it:

  Anyways.. use the SQL Server upgrade Advisor Tool.

  I would also suggest to visit Microsoft Sites and then google around for tons of info.
