Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anybody have a step by step article on how to recover from a disaster on a SQL server failover cluster. I mean how to restore from the backups completely. For. e.g the steps may include system restore, cluster config restore etc. Do we need to recreate clsuter resources / re-install SQL.....
Anybody have a link to a good doc, pls share. Thanks

We've got a full document that starts from the point of a loss of the cluster. I'll have to see if it can be posted. Basically, the document starts from the point of the server team handing a fully rebuilt cluster over to us, and steps through re-install of SQL, and restoring all the databases from remote backup vaults. We've got a number of scripts written that cut down on manual intervention and speed up the rebuild of a server, whether its a cluster or a stand-alone box. We test the procedures occasionally, but we've never had to actually use them (knocks on wood).

I got one issue reg:cluster.Here primary server was failed ,now clustering runs on secondary server.MY question is how to bring back the primary server. and how to add that to secondary node.could u pls provide the action plan for this .the primary server was failed because of windows team instal some patches on that.

could u pls let me know concern

Ok, here's the recovery procedure we use. It does make use of some custom scripts to restore. Some of the scripts are run during the every day backup and maintenance processes to provide the necessary data to restore a server.
