SQL 2000 server hangs with error "Drop Temp Obj: Failed, serializing drops..."

    Hi,

    On our production we had the database hang scenario (sql 2000) in which the database was not responding to transactions coming in. A restart of the sql service will bring back the system up. The error logged in the sql error log is "Drop Temp Obj: Failed, serializing drops..."

    Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Is there any chance this can related to temp db issues? we implemented explicit drop of temp table variables as a part to address this issue.

    Does any one has any other ideas ?
