Min valuse of Memory setting changed automatically!!!!!!

  • Hi,

We have a/a/p clustered sql server 2005 EE. On node1, we have default instance and its Max memory was set to 12GB and Min as default value '0'out of 16GB RAM last month.

Today, we have restared th server for maintenance on SAN. After that when I checked the Max and Min memory values, I was surprised because the Min value is showing now as 128MB.Why this is changed from 0 to 128MB. I did not change this value. Please advice me what will be the possible reasons?

is sql server itself changes the Min memory value?

  • So far as I know, SQL Server itself does not change the min value of the memory setting.

Are you sure you're the only person with the security to go in and change settings? Sometimes if you have multiple people with that access, one person might change something and forget to tell the rest. And if this change was made prior to the restart, you wouldn't necessarily see it. I believe memory setting changes need the service restart to actually change in the Server Properties box.
