Hi
I would like to get MCITP certification and being redundant the funds are low.
Would anyone advise me either buy an online training course, boot camp, training kit from Amazon etc
Recommendations of companies that have a good track record in providing good training/material would be very much appreciated if thats the route I should go.
Thanks in advance

I'd recommend the self-paced training kits, you should be able to buy from Amazon.

I think any of the certification books will help you. They all organize you to go through the things you need to learn. The important things are that you actually do the exercises, practice using SSMS and the tools, set up scenarios, etc.
Disclosure: I worked on a couple of the books for certifications.

What books would you recommend?

The Exam Cram books are the least expensive, they do an OK job but you do need to have hands-on experience with the product for them to be most effective. The self-paced training kits from Microsoft are very good for learning the product but they cost more. HTH

The Sybex books are very good as well.

I think you haven't supplied enough information to get a good recommendation. Number of years of SQL Server experience? 2000, 2005 or 2008? Reason for certification? (promotion at work, resume builder, new job)
Books are the lowest cost option but may not help you achieve your goal if you can't apply what you read to the exam or to the new job. Everyone has a different style of learning:
Understanding Your Learning Style: Study Smart, Pass Quick
Determining Your Learning Style
Cross the Finish Line: Tips for Winning the IT Race
Here's a useful questionaire to assess your style (don't submit it online, just write down your answers and your style should be apparent):
Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire
Personally, I prefer Sybex and Sams books, but also use a test server or virtual lab (virtual labs) to reinforce the concepts.

Hi
I have been working as a developer/sole DBA on SQL Server 2000/2005 since 2003.
the reason for getting MCITP is to get a new job because of being made redundant last year
thanks in advance

How did the MCTIP exam qualification get you? Did it help your job applications?
I am learning and practicing to take the 70-431 Technical Specialist exam (SQL SERVER 2005) to give me job security and to help me know SQL inside out.

I am surprised, that you think you need to get MCITP to get you a new job, if you have been working with SQL since 2003. or have you seen that it is an requirement for the roles you are after.
