I am getting this error: Some or all SQL Server 2005 services are not listed in SQL Server Configuration Manager, or you receive a "No SQL Server 2005 components were found" error message when you perform operations in SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration
I found this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941823 but that did not help, there is no system services under the GPO it references
Does anyone have any ideas,
Thanks,
K

There can be many routes, my Friend.
Does this error occur when you are trying to connect/use Surface Area Configuration to your local machine?
Is SQL Developer edition installed on your machine.Or are there Just Client Tools installed on your (local) machine.
Try connecting to another server with all SQL server 2005 Services installed, rather than your local instance. then check to see if it gives you the same issues.

This is a active/active clustered environment. I cannot connect to the active virtual on that server but can connect to the active virtual on the partner server. From the partner server I can connect to the local active instance but not the instance on the problem server. Also, from the problem server, if you go to the computer management under the services and applications and click on Sql server configuration to launch the view local services, it just sits there and will not return results from the local virtual. All other sql services seem to be performing normally.

Also, i did find the GPO they were speaking of. You have to not choose the DC, but choose the OU and resulting GPO. I set the permissions according to the KB article and forced a GPupdate. Still no luck.
Thanks!
