Steps to take by fresher in DBA field?

    Hi All,

    I am new to this DBA field, Can you please suggest me any topics and hands on to work out.Advice me what are the steps i have to follow to administrate a Database.

    First I would start with learning about backups, transaction log, managing transaction log, creating jobs and alerts, maintenance tasks, indexes. This will take you for days and years to learn. But start with basics.

    Learn to use search engines. I just did a simple search here and found this as the first article. Also, have you looked through BOL??

    I second the search engine reco...

    I did a search for "New DBA" on this site and got back quite a few articles etc...

    Thank you SA. My recommendation, to expand on it a bit, was not meant to be a blow-off of your quest for help. The biggest thing you can do is to try and help yourself - FIRST. Use google, or the search on any of these sites, but at least attempt to do it yourself. The satisfaction you'll acheive knowing you did it own your own will be more rewarding than having someone just hand it to you. If you do get stuck on something - post. A lot of people would be glad to help.
